TNRD implements COVID-19 vaccine policy for employees

KAMLOOPS — The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) announced that COVID-19 vaccination will be a requirement for employees, contractors, and volunteers as of Feb. 1, 2022.

The TNRD says this requirement builds on existing health and safety measures within the district and aligns with guidance from the provincial health officer recommending vaccine policies by employers.

“Being vaccinated is the most effective measure to limit the spread of COVID-19,” TNRD Chief Administrative Officer Scott Hildebrand says. “Making vaccination a requirement is an important step to ensuring our workplaces are as safe as possible for our employees and the public.”

Employees, contractors, and volunteers who choose not to comply with the policy will not be eligible to work or provide services with the TNRD. Accommodations will be available for those who cannot be vaccinated based on a medical condition, or a reason related to a protected ground under the BC Human Rights Code.
