Florentine opening second floor to displaced Merritt residents
MERRITT, B.C. — The Florentine in Merritt is looking to help displaced Merritt residents by opening up their second floor to evacuees who have lost their homes.
President Frank Rizzardo addressed the process of helping out the community.
“We have the entire second floor, which was the complex floor. We’re making those 20 rooms available,” Rizzardo said. “Our intention is to try and help those who have lost their residence and need considerable amounts of time to get organized.”
Because the Florentine is a care facility, it falls under Interior Health and Provincial Health Office (PHO) guidelines. Which includes everybody entering the building having two doses of COVID-19 vaccine and undergoing a daily health check.
