Ashcroft emergency department to be closed overnight this weekend

ASHCROFT — Interior Health says the emergency department in Ashcroft will be closed overnight this weekend.

The health authority is advising residents the Ashcroft Hospital and Community Health Care Centre will have a temporary shut down due to limited staffing availability.

For now, the emergency department will be open

· 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Dec. 3.

· 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 5.

If Ashcroft residents require emergency care while the department is closed, Interior Health says they can call 9-1-1, and visit the emergency departments at hospitals in Kamloops or Merritt. They can also call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 (24 hour service) if unsure of emergency care needs.

Normally, the emergency department hours in Ashcroft are Friday at 6 p.m. until to Monday at 8 a.m.
