Kamloops man facing weapons charges after parking lot firearm incident at RIH

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say one man is facing charges related to a firearms incident in a parking lot of Royal Inland Hospital on Tuesday (Nov. 30).

In a release, Cst. Crystal Evelyn says on November 30 around 2 p.m, police were called to a medical facility parking lot in the 300 block of Columbia Street, where a man was allegedly present with a gun.

Officers were told the man had since left the area, and a vehicle description was provided.

“A responding officer located the described vehicle in the parking lot, where it was reported to have already left from,” states Evelyn, “Upon further investigation, police arrested a man and seized items, including a firearm.”

RCMP say 43-year-old Anthony Ross Chambers is charged with one count each of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and careless use of a firearm.

He was held for court and released, with his next appearance date on Dec. 16, 2021.
