Province to close several highways Saturday in preparation for storm activity

KAMLOOPS — B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says it will proactively close several highways Saturday afternoon (Nov. 27) as the province prepares to be battered with more rainstorms.

In a news release, the ministry says the following routes will be closed:

• Highway 99 between Pemberton and Lillooet
• Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton
• Highway 1 in the Fraser Canyon
• Highway 1 between Popkum and Hope

The ministry says the exact timing and duration of the closures will be determined in part by the weather.

Highways and infrastructure are already vulnerable due to the mid-November rainfall event.
