Woman missing after her Spences Bridge-area home was washed away in flash flood

SPENCES BRIDGE, B.C. — Among the fallout from last week’s massive flood event is a woman who is missing after her home was washed away.

Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet of RCMP E-Division says the woman lived along Highway 8 near Spences Bridge and was unable to leave her home before it was washed away by flood waters on Nov. 16.

Shoihet says the Lillooet RCMP investigation into her whereabouts is ongoing, but the family has requested no identifying details be released publicly.

She notes the flood situation has made it difficult for the family to notify other close families about her disappearance.
