KAMLOOPS — Barb’s Used Book and Music Sale is back.

The Kamloops Symphony will open doors to its 444 Seymour Street location on Saturday (Nov. 20).

Volunteers are accepting used books, records and music sheets until Saturday.

The proceeds will go toward the Kamloops Symphony, which is highly reliant on the Barb’s Book and Music Sale fundraiser.

“This year is incredibly important for us as we go back to in-person concerts and we’re still dealing with restrictions on capacities of audiences and just all of the challenges that come with that,” said Daniel Mills, Executive Director for the Kamloops Symphony.

“It’s incredibly important. All this money will be putting on our concerts and our programming. Paying musicians, guest artists, the production crew — all of that.”

The sale began in 1997, and was the idea of Barb Corbishley, one of the board members at the time.

After her passing, it was renamed Barb’s Used Book and Music sale in her honour.

“We have books of all sorts. most items are priced at $2.00. We have a variety of vinyl records, we have sheet music for sale, we have DVDs, children’s books, mystery books, science fiction, non-fiction, fiction. Really, there’s something for everyone here and people just love looking through it all and finding what piques their interest,” said Mills.

The sale will run from Monday to Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.
