United Way BC launches United for BC Flood Response fund
BRITISH COLUMBIA — To assist with flood response efforts, United Way BC (UWBC) has launched a new fundraising campaign – the United for BC Flood Response fund.
Money raised will be distributed to support those who are displaced or have lost housing, belongings and/or employment, suffered physical or mental health trauma, and emerging needs.
In a release UWBC says communities around the province have been ‘profoundly affected by the sudden floods that continue to pose extraordinary challenges for the safety and recovery of people across the province.’ The organization says it recognizes that after a devastating wildfire season, support will be needed for both intermediate, and long-term recovery flood efforts.
Funds will be put towards important needs like shelter, food assistance, trauma and mental health supports, and rebuilding social infrastructure.
