Pedestrian killed in Sunday night collision in Valleyview

MERRITT, B.C. — RCMP say a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle along the East Trans Canada Highway in Kamloops Sunday night (Nov. 14).

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn says the collision took place at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 1700-block of the East Trans Canada Highway in Valleyview.

First responders tried to revive the pedestrian — a man in his 40s — and rushed him to hospital, but he died from his injuries.

Evelyn says RCMP do not suspect criminality in the incident, but are still looking to gather more evidence. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and cite file number 2021-39922.
