Blazers sweep home-and-home weekend with Giants

KAMLOOPS — While the offence wasn’t as explosive as Friday’s win, the Kamloops Blazers were steady again defensively in Saturday’s (Nov. 13) 2-1 road win over the Vancouver Giants.

After a first period where the Blazers were outscored 1-0 and outshot 14-9, they settled for the final 40 minutes. Ethan Brandwood and Logan Stankoven scored nearly six minutes apart in the second period and that’s all Kamloops would need in the end, as the Blazers didn’t surrender another goal and only gave up 10 shots on net.

The Blazers improved to 13-2-0 on the 2021-22 Western Hockey League season, good for 26 points in 15 games and first place in the Western Conference. They host the Victoria Royals at the Sandman Centre on Friday (Nov. 19).
