KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 339 calls for service from midnight Friday (Nov. 5) to 9 a.m. on Monday (Nov. 8). Below are some highlights from those reports.

Weapon seizure in Dallas

An officer attended Campbell Creek Pit Road for a report of an abandoned vehicle where two people appeared to be passed out inside with a large knife.

Both occupants were arrested, although one of them was wanted on a warrant out of Chase and held for court.

A search of the vehicle, which police say was uninsured and had mismatched license plates, revealed drugs, suspected stolen property, and weapons. Including a bb gun, a knife that folds into brass knuckles, a baton, a conductive energy weapon, a suspected explosive device, and a loaded firearm.

The items were seized by RCMP, and the investigation is ongoing.

Bat and bear spray assault downtown

A man and a woman were allegedly causing a disturbance on the 100-block of Victoria Street, which RCMP say escalated to an attempted assault with a bat and a bear spray deployment.

Both suspects departed prior to police arrival.

Officers located and spoke with one of the suspects but were unable to find the other person involved. No injuries were reported.

Man arrested after brandishing knife in attempted downtown robbery

RCMP responded to the 400-block of Lansdowne Street for a report of a man who allegedly attempted to steal Friday afternoon, then brandished a knife when confronted by staff.

The man was arrested and taken to cells and later released with a court date, pending the investigation’s conclusion and subsequent charge assessment process.
