KAMLOOPS — Fourteen months after they were unveiled to the city as the 14th West Coast Baseball League (WCL) franchise, the Kamloops NorthPaws can look forward to playing their first game.
The WCL unveiled its 2022 schedule, with Opening Day set for May 31. The regular season will end on Aug. 7, followed by the playoffs.
The NorthPaws host the Edmonton Riverhawks at Norbrock Stadium on Opening Day. Along with the NorthPaws and Riverhawks, two other expansion teams will play their inaugural WCL games: the Nanaimo NightOwls and Springfield Drifters.
Each of the 16 WCL teams will play 54 games in the regular season. The WCL didn’t play in 2020 and only had American teams play in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
