Garand named to CHL Team of the Week after two stellar wins

KAMLOOPS — One day after being recognized as the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) goaltender of the week, Kamloops Blazers goaltender Dylan Garand’s week earned him a national honour.

Garand was named to the Canadian Hockey League’s (CHL) Team of the Week for individual performances from Nov. 1 and 7. Garand had a 0.980 save percentage, 0.50 goals against average (GAA), shutout and two wins in his two games. He stopped 27 of 28 shots Wednesday against the Portland Winterhawks and stopped all 22 shots Friday against the Victoria Royals.

As of Nov. 9, Garand leads the WHL with nine wins and is tied for first in shutouts with two. Garand is fifth in GAA with 1.91 and seventh in save percentage with 0.925.

Garand has backstopped the Blazers to an 11-1-0 record, good for 22 points and first in the WHL Western Conference. The Blazers visit the Kelowna Rockets Wednesday (Nov. 10).
