B.C. reports 500 new COVID-19 cases, Interior Health sees notable increase in active cases

KAMLOOPS — According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control COVID-19 Dashboard, the province is reporting 500 new COVID-19 cases for Tuesday (Nov. 9) with 121 of them in Interior Health.

Active cases slightly increased in B.C. to 4,301 (up by 19 since Monday), while Interior Health saw a notable increase to 745 (up by 62).

Of the provincial active cases, 426 individuals are in hospital (up by 19) and 124 are in intensive care (up by three). The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

Elsewhere, there were 152 new cases in Fraser Health (1,800 active), 76 in Island Health (613), 103 in Northern Health (557) and 48 in Vancouver Coastal Health (527).

In the past 24 hours, five new deaths were reported for a provincial total of 2,223.

There are six active COVID-19 outbreaks at Interior Health healthcare facilities, including Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) Unit 5S and 7N, and Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre in Kamloops.

According to Interior Health RIH Unit 5S has 27 cases (20 patients and seven staff/other with one death), Unit 7N has four patient cases, and Brocklehurst Gemstone has six cases (four residents and two staff).

The COVID-19 outbreak at Millar College of the Bible in Sunnybrae has 31 cases.
