KAMLOOPS — A 33-year-old Kamloops man was sentenced to six months in jail and received a year probation after committing a crime spree across the Thompson-Nicola region.

Michael Lazaruk pleaded guilty to fleeing from police, carrying a concealed weapon and theft of a motor vehicle on Thursday (Nov. 4).

The crime spree happened on April 1, 2021, where Logan Lake RCMP were alerted to a suspicious vehicle that was eventually located with a Lazaruk in the Logan Lake Library parking lot.

Police say when they attempted to stop the vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen, it fled at a high rate of speed. RCMP located Lazaruk and the stolen vehicle a short time later at a private home on the 8500-block of Highway 97C.
