Garand earns WHL Goaltender of the Week honours after allowing three goals in three wins
KAMLOOPS — Three wins last week, including his 10th career shutout in his hometown of Victoria on Friday night, has earned Dylan Garand the WHL Goaltender of the Week award.
The wins over the Royals improve Kamloops to 11-1 on the season. In the victories, the 19-year-old New York Rangers prospect had a .980 saves percentage and 0.50 goals against average.
Garand allowed only three goals in three games in the last week, also including a 7-1 home win over Portland last Wednesday when he stopped 27 Winterhawk shots.
In 101 career games, Garand has a 65-23-4-2 record with a 2.36 goals-against average and .916 saves percentage. His nine wins this season are the most among WHL goalies. He goes for No. 10 on Wednesday when the Blazers travel to Kelowna to face the Rockets.
