B.C. reports 430 new COVID-19 cases, active cases drop by more than 300

KAMLOOPS — There were 430 new COVID-19 cases reported in B.C. for Wednesday (Nov. 3), with 88 of them in Interior Health.

Active cases in the province decreased to 4,373 (down by 321 since Tuesday), but the active count rose in Interior Health to 638 (up by 25).

Of the provincial active cases, 137 are in intensive care. The B.C. government says due to a data error, the number of total hospitalizations could not be included in Wednesday’s report and will be provided tomorrow.

Elsewhere, 202 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Fraser Health (1,891 active), 56 in Vancouver Coastal Health (603), 47 in Island Health (632) and 37 in Northern Health (550). No new cases were reported for people who reside outside of Canada, although that active total remains at 59.

One of the six deaths reported in the past 24 hours were in Interior Health. The provincial total is at 2,192.

One new healthcare facility outbreak was declared at Hallmark on the Park in Fraser Health. There are 40 active outbreaks in B.C., with seven of them in Interior Health, including Royal Inland Hospital (19 cases – 17 patients and two staff) and Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre (two cases – one resident and one staff) in Kamloops.

The B.C. government’s pandemic update lists Overlander Residential Care as having an active COVID-19 outbreak, although Interior Health declared the outbreak over on Tuesday (Nov. 2).

As of Tuesday, 90.1 per cent (4,174,139) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 85.5 per cent (3,963,038) have received their second dose.
