KAMLOOPS — Cutober nearly doubled its total dollar amount in its second year.

The fundraiser in Kamloops where parents let children cut their hair raised over $7,000 in October, well up from the $4,000 raised in 2020.

Organizer Nathaniel Martin said $5,000 was raised from a group effort at Teck HVC, with the remainder coming from the public. The haircut fundraiser at Aberdeen Mall earlier this month raised over $600.

Martin came up with the fundraiser last year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, after his daughter kept brushing his hair and eventually wanting to cut it. Funds will go towards the Canadian Mental Health Association and Kamloops Sexual Assault Counseling Centre.
