Operation Red Nose looking for volunteers for 2021 Campaign
KAMLOOPS — If you’ve checked your calendar lately, you’ll know that November is right around the corner. That means Christmas is coming and faster than expected. The good news is, after a one-year hiatus, Operation Red Nose is planning a triumphant return to the streets of Kamloops.
The holiday designated driving service is making preparations to offer safe rides home to holiday revellers this year. While there’s still time before the campaign officially kicks off, Carolyn Boomer, Executive Director of PacificSport Interior BC, says now is the time to sign up to volunteer.
“We are doing 13 nights, starting November 26th. Whether you’re a designated driver or the navigator who works as the team’s secretary or the escort driver following in your own vehicle as the team of three,” Boomer explains. “And then you’re out and in the community wherever people are, whether that’s at pubs or restaurants or out for dinner or at a house party. We don’t anticipate huge Christmas parties this year, but we really feel people are hungry to socialize and share in the holiday spirit.”
