MERRITT, B.C. — Environment Canada is upgrading its special weather statement issued earlier this week for the Coquihalla Summit, now designating it a snowfall warning.

The forecaster says the warning is in effect for the Merritt-to-Hope stretch of the Coquihalla, as well as the Okanagan Connector between Merritt and Peachland.

Fifteen-to-20 centimetres of snow is expected at higher elevations Thursday morning (Oct. 28), followed by heavy rain throughout the day.

The same system is responsible for a rainfall warning through the southern portions of the Fraser Canyon including Lytton.
