MERRITT, B.C. — Environment Canada has issued a weather alert that will be of interest to those travelling from the Interior into the Lower Mainland over the next couple of days.

In a special weather statement, the forecaster says 10 to 20 centimetres of snow is expected near the Coquihalla Summit between Merritt and Hope beginning Tuesday night (Oct. 26) through Wednesday.

The system is being brought in by an unstable westerly flow and the statement notes it will turn to rain at lower elevations.

Actual snow accumulation totals will depend on temperatures and the snow level. The Kamloops forecast calls for showers throughout the day Tuesday.
