Kamloops radio legend Doug Collins ends 55-year broadcasting career

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops radio legend’s 55-year broadcasting career has come to a close.

CFJC‘s Doug Collins announced his retirement to colleagues Friday morning (Oct. 22).

Collins spent 51 of his 55 years in broadcasting with CFJC, arriving in Kamloops from Penticton in 1970.

Serving in several management roles in addition to his broadcasting duties, Collins retired from the management side in 2018. He continued reading morning radio newscasts for B-100 and 98.3 CIFM.

Collins has been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Radio-Television-Digital News Association (RTDNA) and was named Broadcaster of the Year by the B.C. Association of Broadcasters in 2009.
