Downtown crash leads to multiple charges for Kamloops man
KAMLOOPS — An early morning collision on Saturday (Oct. 9) at Battle Street and Columbia Street led to a 28-year-old Kamloops man being arrested and charged with numerous offences, including break-and-enter.
Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to a motor vehicle collision at around 7:15 a.m. in which a white Kia hatchback allegedly rear-ended a Honda CRV. No serious injuries were reported.
“As part of their response, police discovered the Kia had been reported stolen, which led officers into a deeper investigation and revealed other offences, including break-and-enter to a residence,” Cst. Crystal Evelyn says.
The man is charged with breaking into and entering a residence and committing theft, obstructing a peace officer, possessing stolen property exceeding $5,000, possessing an identity document belonging to another person without lawful excuse, theft of motor vehicle and fail to comply with a probation order. He was remanded in custody and the matter is before the courts.
