Kamloops RCMP say death along Mission Flats Road was homicide, identify victim

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are calling the discovery of a body on Friday (Oct. 1), near the Mission Flats Road shoreline a homicide — and they’re hoping the public can provide more information.

RCMP have identified the victim as Adam Hibbert, aged 29, of Kamloops.

“It’s not believed to be random and the public is not believed to be at risk at this time,” said Cst. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

She was unable to confirm the cause of Hibbert’s death.

Cst. Evelyn told CFJC News the RCMP is hoping the public can help with more information about Hibbert — such as what he was doing at the time of his death or who he was in contact with, particularly on Thursday, Sept. 30 and Friday, Oct. 1.

At around 4:15 p.m., on Friday (Oct 1.) police were called to assist Kamloops Fire and Rescue who was there tending to a suspicious fire and discovered a body.

After extensive investigating with a lot of resources, the RCMP are calling Hibbert’s death a homicide.
