Police watchdog to probe fatal motorcycle crash Sunday in Valleyview

KAMLOOPS — B.C.’s police watchdog is looking into Sunday night’s (Sept. 26) fatal motorcycle crash in Kamloops.

At about 6:50 p.m. Sunday, a motorcyclist collided with a Dodge Ram pickup truck at the intersection of Highland Road and the East Trans Canada Highway in Valleyview.

The motorcyclist, who had been travelling eastbound on Highway 1, was killed in the crash.

In a news release, the Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) says just before the crash, the white Suzuki motorcycle had passed an officer driving a marked RCMP van.

The IIO will try to determine whether officer action or inaction played any part in the collision that resulted in the man’s death.
