KAMLOOPS β€” RCMP are looking for witnesses to a crash that killed a cyclist along the Trans Canada Highway early Tuesday morning (Sept. 21).

In a news release, Cst. Crystal Evelyn says officers found one man dead on the highway at about 5:45 a.m., in the westbound lanes across from Pineridge Golf Course.

The discovery was made after a pair of motorists travelling in the westbound lanes called in. They had noticed a blinking light ahead as they drove, then pulled over to find the man dead. He was lying near an ebike, which was the source of the flashing light.

Evelyn says investigators want to talk to anyone who saw the man and the ebike travelling along the highway, anyone who stopped to help him or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area prior to police arriving at the scene.

The victim is described as having long, black hair, a black jacket and dark blue pants.

β€œAt that time of the morning, it was still quite dark. If anyone thinks they saw the man or the flashing light on his ebike; was driving in the area prior to that time, or has information which could help with the investigation in anyway, please let us know,” said Cst. Evelyn.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2021-33187.
