Man arrested near Armstrong after person found dead in shooting
ENDERBY, B.C. — A man was arrested near Armstrong after a shooting near Vernon.
Vernon/North Okanagan Rural RCMP discovered a dead person in 4500-block of Enderby Road after receiving a call of a possible shooting and an associated vehicle fleeing the area on Monday (Sept. 20) at 11:30 a.m.
RCMP say a continued search co-ordinated by RCMP Air Services and supported by the Southeast District Emergency Response resulted in locating the vehicle. Shortly after, one man was located and arrested near Armstrong and taken into custody. RCMP add a police vehicle was damaged by the suspect vehicle during the search and arrest, but no injuries resulted.
“The Southeast District Major Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation,” S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says. “The identity and further details regarding the deceased person will not be released pending further investigation and notification of next of kin.”
