KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say a major police presence downtown Thursday was due to a reported stabbing. However, police say no stabbing was actually found.

Spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn says officers rushed to the area of Lorne Street and First Avenue just before 5:00 p.m. after the report someone was stabbed.

The investigators found two people involved in a fight, but no knife was found and the supposed victim did not say he was injured.

Both participants in the fight were taken to RCMP cells to sober up in separate cells.
