KAMLOOPS — He’s not wearing a flea collar, but Kamloops RCMP’s newest four-legged member is collaring suspects as they try to flee.

In a news release, spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn says Marook and his handler, Cst. Kevin Challoner, completed the RCMP Dog Handler Training program on Sept. 3.

One week later, just after midnight last Friday (Sept. 10), Marook was on the case of a collision on the Coquihalla Highway.

Evelyn says Marook traversed a steep embankment to ensure no occupants had been ejected from the vehicle, then went off in search of the driver, finding him about one kilometre away.
