
Merritt RCMP and Major Crimes investigating suspicious death
KAMLOOPS — The Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) has been called to assist the Merritt RCMP following the discovery of a body in a rural area of Merritt.
Just before 8:00 a.m. on September 14, frontline officers from the Merritt RCMP attended to an area near Nicola Lake. When officers arrived they located the body of a deceased person whose death is believed to be suspicious.
Staff Sergeant Steph Drouin states, “Investigators from the SED MCU have been called in to take conduct of the investigation, with assistance from our Merritt RCMP officers. Our priority at this time is to identify the dead person and notify their next of kin.”
A heavy police presence was also observed along Nicola Avenue on Tuesday.
