Suspect in custody after Labour Day dumpster fires in downtown Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — A local man is in custody and facing charges after a series of small fires in downtown Kamloops early Monday morning (Sept. 6).
In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn says officers were called to the 200-block of Victoria Street at about 6:00 a.m. Monday after the report of an aggressive man and a broken window.
As officers investigated, they noted a fire in a nearby dumpster. Kamloops Fire Rescue responded and extinguished the fire.
Subsequently, three more dumpster fires were found along Victoria Street before a grass fire was found and extinguished in front of a business at Fifth Avenue and St. Paul Street.
