Kamloops RCMP pooch Fargo calls it a career
KAMLOOPS — One of the Kamloops RCMP detachment’s most well-loved members is transitioning to a new phase in life.
After a celebratory steak dinner Tuesday night (Sept. 7), Fargo, an RCMP Service Dog, is putting his feet up Wednesday as it is his first day of retirement.
The eight-year-old German shepherd and his handler, Cpl. Steven Prior, have been members of the Kamloops detachment for the past five years after moving west from Newfoundland.
“He’s been a true buddy and companion,” said Cpl. Prior in a news release. “The amount of time we spent together in a suburban during horrible storms and late nights is unbelievable to most. But even though many drives were long and tough, it was nice when the sun came up and it was just me and him cruising the highway.”
