KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a traffic stop in downtown Kamloops early Wednesday morning (Sept. 8) led them to seize drugs and a loaded gun.

In a news release, detachment spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn says a Mountie patrolling downtown at about 2:54 a.m. Wednesday noticed an SUV speeding and committing traffic violations.

The officer pulled the vehicle over near Eighth Avenue and Seymour Street, and the driver failed roadside breath tests, resulting in a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impound.

As the female passenger left the vehicle, RCMP noticed a large amount of cash, weapons, ammunition and “paraphernalia associated to the illegal drug trade.”
