Kamloops sees another weekly high COVID-19 cases, Central Okanagan decreases again

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Local Health Area (LHA) saw another uptick in weekly COVID-19 cases, its highest amount since data was presented by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

Kamloops saw 249 new cases of COVID-19 between Aug. 22 and 28, which is still an average daily rate per 100,000 population greater than 20.

Vernon nearly doubled its weekly COVID-19 cases.

Elsewhere, the Central Okanagan saw another decrease in weekly COVID-19 cases. That LHA saw 511 new cases reported, down over 200 from the previous week.

Nearly ever LHA surrounding Kamloops has an average daily rate per 100,000 population greater than 20. The breakdown is as follows:

  • Kamloops – 249 (up by 56)
  • Cariboo/Chilcotin – 66 (up by 22)
  • North Thompson – three (down by one)
  • 100 Mile House – 11 (up by five)
  • South Cariboo – five (unchanged)
  • Lillooet – three (up by one)
  • Merritt – eight (down by five)
  • Vernon – 263 (up by 130)
  • Armstrong-Spallumcheen – 24 (up by eight)
  • Enderby – 19 (down by nine)
  • Salmon Arm – 93 (up by 14)
  • Revelstoke – three (down by 21)
  • Central Okanagan (Kelowna) – 511 (down by 226)
