Final evacuation alerts related to Tremont Creek wildfire lifted

KAMLOOPS — The Tremont Creek wildfire west of Kamloops no longer poses a threat to people and property.

Tuesday morning (Aug. 31), the Thompson-Nicola Regional District rescinded the final evacuation alerts associated with the fire, meaning the following properties have been given the ‘all-clear’:

  • 4704 to 4792 Atwater Rd;
  • 9273 to 9437 Dominic Lake FSR;
  • 4445 Greenstone Rd;
  • 380 Guichon Creek FSR;
  • 5860 to 5900 Haywood-Farmer Rd;
  • 4700 to 4870 Mile High Lane;
  • 4812 to 4897 Paska Lake Rd;
  • 4730 to 4890 Pine Ridge Way;
  • 4830 to 4860 Saddle Cres;
  • 280 Tunkwa Lake Rd;
  • 410 and 460 Tunkwa Lake Rd;
  • 640 Tunkwa Lake Rd;
  • 1140 and 1160 Tunkwa Lake Rd;
  • 2380 to 7923 Tunkwa Lake Rd; and
  • any other properties located within the area highlighted on the map below:

The Tremont Creek fire was first discovered on July 12, just east of Ashcroft. It eventually grew to 63,523 hectares and led to the evacuation of scores of properties, including the communities of Walhachin and Cherry Creek. Hundreds of properties were placed on alert, including within the City of Kamloops.
