KAMLOOPS — The evacuation order related to the July Mountain wildfire continues to be partially downgraded.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) partially downgraded an evacuation order Tuesday (Aug. 31) morning for 58 properties near the Brookmere area south of Merritt.

Residents at the following properties may return home, but remain on evacuation alert:

  • 5815 Brookmere Rd.
  • 872 to 933 Brookmere Station Rd.
  • 905 to 920 Caboose Lane
  • 5541 to 5633 Coldwater Rd.
  • 5135 to 5147 Conductor Way
  • 5120 to 5132 Engineer Ave.
  • 5105 to 5152 Railway Dr.
  • 852 to 1016 Roundhouse Dr.
  • other properties as outlined in orange on the attached map
    (Thompson-Nicola Regional District).

Should conditions change, the TNRD said an evacuation order could be reinstated as necessary.

Residents returning home should fill the gas tank for all their personal vehicles and bring a minimum of three days of food and essential supplies with them as local grocery stores may not have adequate stock.

Information for returning residents is available online.

Because of the potential danger to life and safety, the TNRD says an evacuation order remains in place for the following 25 addressed properties: 5340 Coldwater Rd., 5644 to 5868 Juliet Dr., and other properties as outlined in red on the above map.

The latest downgrade comes after the TNRD rescinded the evacuation order for 52 properties and gave the all clear for 135 on Monday.

TNRD residents can track active evacuation alerts and orders here.
