Man reportedly throws cigarette butts into bushes in Merritt, charged with assaulting officer

MERRITT — RCMP say a man was allegedly throwing cigarette butts into bushes in the 2000 block of Nicola Avenue of Merritt on Aug. 18.

Merritt RCMP say they located the man and he tried to flee from the officer. Police say he resisted arrest and assaulted the officer in the process.

The man was charged with one count of assaulting a police officer on Aug. 19 and the matter is before the court.
