WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — In the Cariboo Fire Centre, the wildfire danger has eased to the point that officials are lifting the ban on campfires.

According to a news release, campfires will be allowed throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre as of this Friday, August 27, at 12:00 noon.

The B.C. Wildfire Service says cooler temperatures and rainfall have decreased fire danger ratings throughout the region in recent days.

Even so, those who plan to ignite a campfire in the Cariboo are advised to be extremely cautious with their fire use. Category 2 and 3 open burning is still prohibited.
