TNRD rescinds evacuation alert for 10 properties near Kamloops impacted by Tremont Creek wildfire

UPDATE (4:50 p.m.) Cool temperatures, calm winds, and showers were welcome sights for the Kamloops Fire Centre over the weekend.

Sunday (Aug. 22) afternoon, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) downgraded two more evacuation orders to alerts.

The first downgraded order is for two properties in the Bonaparte Plateau electoral area impacted by the McKay Creek wildfire: 7633 and 7780 Watson Bar Rd.

The other was for 22 properties in the Blue Sky Country impacted by the Mowhokam/George Road wildfires:

  • 1040 to 1210 George Rd.
  • 2730 and 2740 Siwash Rd.
  • 752 to 838 Trans-Canada Hwy.
  • 874 Trans-Canada Hwy.
  • 1140 Trans-Canada Hwy.
  • 1912 Trans-Canada Hwy.
  • 1940 Trans-Canada Hwy.
  • 2176 Trans-Canada Hwy.
  • 2781 to 3045 Trans-Canada Hwy.
  • any other properties noted within the area on the attached map
    (Thompson-Nicola Regional District).

Should conditions change, the TNRD said an evacuation alert or order could be reinstated as necessary.

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — Ten more properties around Kamloops have gone from being on evacuation alert to all clear.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) rescinded its evacuation alert in the Copper Desert Country electoral area Sunday (Aug. 22) morning as the Tremont Creek wildfire no longer poses a threat to the safety of residents.

Properties affected include:

  • 1848 Edith Lake Rd.
  • 1645 to 4180 Goose Lake Rd.
  • 3561 and 3585 Lac Le Jeune Rd.
  • 3350 Timber Lake FSR
  • 4000 and 4050 Trans-Canada Hwy.
  • any other properties located within the area noted on the attached map
    (Thompson-Nicola Regional District).

Should conditions change, the TNRD said an evacuation alert or order could be reinstated as necessary.

Communities such as Cherry Creek, Savona, Tobiano, and Walhachin remain on evacuation alert due to the Tremont Creek wildfire. The blaze is measured at over 62,500 hectares.

Elsewhere, the TNRD also rescinded an evacuation order for 12 properties in the Lower North Thompson that are impacted by the Sparks Lake wildfire.

The properties include:

  • 8400 Akehurst Lake
  • 7800 Caverhill Lake
  • 8280 Darlington Creek FSR
  • 3381 to 3437 Jamieson-Spruce Grove FSR
  • 6620 Jamieson-Spruce Grove FSR
  • any other properties identified on the attached map
