KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers have another defenseman coming to training camp in September. The team announced on Tuesday the signing of Rylan Pearce to a standard WHL player agreement.

The 2005-born prospect was drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft.

In a shortened season, Pearce played seven games with the Warman Wildcats of the Saskatchewan Under-18 AAA league. He had a goal and an assist. During the 2019-20 season, he had 10 goals and 30 assists for the Martenville U15 team.

“Rylan is a reliable puck moving defenseman that can contribute at both ends of the rink,” said Blazers’ Director of Player Personnel Robbie Sandland in a statement. “His ability to get back to pucks and make sound decisions under pressure, combined with his physicality and compete make him an effective player. As a group, we see a lot of upside in his game and look forward to watching him develop in a Blazer uniform.”
