Wildfire expands on Logan Lake’s north and west side, threatens mine site
KAMLOOPS — Numerous evacuation orders and alerts were altered as gusty winds threaten to increase the size and intensity of wildfires in B.C.
The District of Logan Lake stated on Aug. 14 that the Tremont Creek wildfire on the north and west side of the community has expanded and is now threatening the mine site.
The Highland Valley mine site is now under evacuation order. The district says the preferred escape route is Ashcroft as the route to Kamloops is unavailable.
Flames are visible from Logan Lake, but the district says no structures have been lost. They say they have extensive fire truck crews established to fight any spot fires from embers that land on homes and other structures.
