Wildfire emerges near Brook Creek, TNRD issues handful of evacuation orders and alerts Saturday

KAMLOOPS — Since Saturday (Aug. 14) evening, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) issued three new evacuation orders, three evacuation alerts, and partially downgraded on evacuation order.

Because of the Tremont Creek wildfire and the potential dangers to life and structures, 117 properties in the Paska Lake area are on evacuation order.

• 9273 to 9437 Dominic Lake FSR
• 4700 to 4870 Mile High Lane
• 4812 to 4897 Paska Lake Rd.
• 4730 to 4890 Pine Ridge Way
• 4830 to 4860 Saddle Cres.
• any other properties located within the area noted on the attached map
  (Thompson-Nicola Regional District).

A new 50-hectare Brook Creek wildfire south of Merritt was discovered Saturday, and BC Wildfire Services says it’s suspected to be human caused. In response, an evacuation order is in place for 99 properties:

• 5815 Brookmere Rd.
• 872 to 933 Brookmere Station Rd.
• 905 to 920 Caboose Lane
• 3400 to 3785 Cantlon Rd.
• 5780 and 6180 Coalmont Rd.
• 5340 to 5633 Coldwater Rd.
• 5135 to 5147 Conductor Way
• 5120 and 5132 Engineer Ave.
• 3040 and 3097 Figlenski Rd.
• 440 and 2985 Kane Valley Rd.
• 5105 to 5152 Railway Dr.
• 852 to 1016 Roundhouse Dr.
• any other properties located within the area noted on the attached map

Elsewhere, six properties addressed as 2380 to 2492 Torgerson Rd. and any other properties within the attached map were issued evacuation orders due to the Lytton Creek wildfire.

(Thompson-Nicola Regional District).

Anyone in the described area must leave immediately. Emergency Support Services will only be provided if your primary residence is one of the properties under evacuation order.

TNRD evacuation alerts

Due to the Tremont Creek wildfire, 59 properties south of Logan Lake are under evacuation alert:

• 7020 to 7061 Brolin Rd.
• 8625 Chataway Lake
• 6745 to 6833 Foley Rd.
• 6880 to 9865 Hwy. 97C
• 7297 and 7385 Rey Lake Rd.
• 9192 to 9196 Woodman Rd.
• any other properties located within the area noted on the attached map

The new Brook Creek wildfire put 89 properties on evacuation alert:

• 4180 Coalmont Rd.
• 488 to 544 Harlow Moore Dr.
• 7033 to 8695 Hwy. 5A
• 9440 to 10884 Hwy. 97C
• 3485 to 4580 Iron Mountain Rd.
• 4625 and 5395 Kane Valley Rd.
• 585 to 720 Mountainview Rd.
• 4600 Tillery Rd.
• 381 to 609 Wild Rose Dr.
• any properties with the boundary outlined on the attached map

And the Lytton Creek wildfire poses a threat to structures and residents for 111 properties:

• 2185 Graham Rd.
• 2208 to 2215 Harris Rd.
• 2177 to 2225 Hazelhurst Rd.
• 1555 Hogan Rd.

• 1256 to 1852 Miller Rd.
• 1601 to 1889 Nicolls Rd.
• 1260 to 2189 Sunshine Valley Rd.
• 2124 to 2173 Tomkinson Rd.
• 2241 to 2285 Whitaker Rd.
• 2252 to 2440 Willgoose Rd.
• 2305 Woodward Rd.
• any other properties located within the area noted on the attached map

Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, although they may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.

Partial downgrade

And the evacuation order 74 properties near Douglas Lake Road that were impacted by the White Rock Lake wildfire has been downgraded to an evacuation alert.

Residents in the following properties may return home:

• 4523 to 5731 Back Rd.
• 6562 to 6580 Becker Rd.
• 6651 to 8440 Douglas Lake Rd.
• 5277 Montana Lake Rd.
• 6671 to 6919 Service Rd.
• any other properties identified on the attached alert map
  (Thompson-Nicola Regional District).

However, the following 45 properties remain on evacuation order.

• 8640 and 8700 Douglas Lake Rd.
• 4120 and 4249 Kristianson Rd.
• 4025 to 5970 Paxton Valley Rd.
• 5209 Six Mile Creek Rd.
• 4294 Strong Rd.
• 5469 to 5545 Westlund Rd.
• any other properties identified on the attached order map

Should conditions change, the TNRD said an evacuation alert or order could be reinstated as necessary.
