Man presumed drowned in Mara Lake

KAMLOOPS — A 64-year-old man is missing and presumed drowned following an incident on Mara Lake Wednesday (Aug. 11) afternoon.

Sicamous RCMP was notified of a possible drowning in Mara Lake near Turtle Bay.

The investigation determined that witness last saw a man from Red Deer, Alta. in distress while swimming in the deep water near his boat.

Private boats assisted in the search however the missing man was not located and is presumed drowned.

“We have requested assistance from the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team who will attend and attempt to locate and recover the victim,” Sgt. Murray McNeil states. “Our thoughts remain with his family.”
