Recent high of new COVID-19 cases in Island Health continues
NANAIMO — The rising trend of new COVID-19 cases in Island Health shows no signs of stopping.
Another 29 new cases were found in the health authority by Friday, Aug. 13, with 11 in the central Island area. There are currently 217 active cases, with 72 in the central area and 126 in the southern areas.

Across the province, the number of new cases reached a high not seen since early May. There were 717 new cases as active cases neared 4,300.
