Kamloops more than doubles its weekly COVID-19 cases, Central Okanagan sees another large uptake

KAMLOOPS — After a slight decrease the previous week, he latest breakdown of COVID-19 cases by Local Health Area (LHA) shows Kamloops’ COVID-19 cases have doubled over the last week.

The map from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) for the week of Aug. 1 to 7 shows 59 cases in the Kamloops area, up from 26 the previous week.

The Central Okanagan saw another drastic increase. The region saw 849 new cases, nearly double from the 450 the previous week.

Nearly every region around Kamloops saw a COVID-19 uptake.

Here are the totals for areas surrounding Kamloops between Aug. 1 to 7, 2021:

  • Kamloops – 59 (up by 33)
  • Cariboo/Chilcotin – nine (up by nine)
  • North Thompson – two (up by two)
  • 100 Mile House – one (up by one)
  • South Cariboo – zero (unchanged)
  • Lillooet – zero (down by one)
  • Merritt – six (up by six)
  • Vernon – 91 (up by 32)
  • Armstrong-Spallumcheen – 12 (up by four)
  • Enderby – 11 (up by two)
  • Salmon Arm – 24 (up by four)
  • Revelstoke – 12 (up by nine)
  • Central Okanagan(Kelowna) – 849 (up by 399)
