Kamloops woman wins $500,000 from Lotto Max draw in June
KAMLOOPS — It wasn’t the $70 million jackpot that kept Canadians consistently checking their lottery numbers, but a Kamloops woman left the lotto-crazed month of June with a rich memory.
Alison Trulsen won $500,000 during the June 18 Lotto Max draw, matching seven out of seven numbers on a ticket she purchased in Quebec to split a $1 million Maxmillions prize. She checked her winning ticket at the Aberdeen Hills Petro-Canada.
“I don’t have any big plans to celebrate,” Trulsen says. “However, my husband and I plan on having pizza… it’s nice not having to cook. For this ticket, I didn’t check the Maxmillions so I didn’t even know I had won. When I went to Petro-Canada and saw that it was a winner I was so surprised. I still couldn’t believe it and had to share the news with [my husband]. He was pretty happy.”
Trulsen says she doesn’t have any immediate plans for her prize, but she will likely put the money away for a rainy day or invest it.
