Kamloops RCMP discover imitation firearm, leads to drug seizure downtown
KAMLOOPS — A man with an imitation firearm was arrested several blocks away from the Hot Nite in the City festivities Saturday (Aug. 7) afternoon.
Kamloops RCMP says they were conducting foot patrols near Battle Street and 10th Avenue when they observed a man, who is well known to police, who appeared to have a firearm in his waistband.
“When police tried to arrest the man, a struggle occurred, and what appeared to be a gun fell to the ground,” Cst. Crystal Evelyn says.
RCMP discovered the pistol to be a BB gun. A police search led to the discovery and seizure of suspected illegal drugs, packaging, and paraphernalia commonly associated to drug trafficking.
