Evacuation ordered for properties south of Savona as Tremont Creek wildfire moves

KAMLOOPS – The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued an Evacuation Order for 17 properties in the vicinity of Tunkwa Lake, west of Kamloops.

The properties impacted are located in Electoral Area “J” (Copper Desert Country) and are identified on the map below:

.• 380 Guichon Creek FSR;

• 5860 to 5900 Haywood-Farmer Rd;

• 280 to 640 Tunkwa Lake Rd;

The properties are being impacted by the Tremont Creek wildfire. It’s grown to an estimated 30,000 hectares. The BC Wildfire Service says the fire jumped containment lines Thursday (Aug. 5) and moved in a northeast direction towards Savona.

If you are in the described area, you must leave immediately.
