Emergency Support Services in Kamloops seeking volunteers
KAMLOOPS – The City is asking for volunteers to support its Emergency Support Services (ESS) program.
ESS provides short-term assistance to individuals who are forced from their homes because of fire and other emergencies.
“Our Emergency Support Services volunteers and staff are well trained to work in our virtual reception centre. We want to reassure Kamloops residents and our regional friends that evacuees are being assisted with expertise, experience, and diligence to support the residents of Kamloops and our regional partners,” stated Dan Sutherland, the City’s Emergency Program Coordinator.
The Kamloops ESS team is seeking new volunteers to assist current efforts. Volunteer training has been scheduled to take place between August 7 and 14. Volunteers should have basic computer skills, be comfortable speaking with evacuees over the phone and obtain a Police Information and Vulnerable Sector Check.
