ENDERBY, B.C. — The Independent Investigators Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) has launched an investigation into an incident in Enderby where one man died and two women suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The incident in question occurred shortly before 12 a.m. on August 5, when Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to reports of an alleged double stabbing of two women and a male suspect acting erratically, possibly due to drug impairment, at a campground near Enderby.

Multiple officers, including members of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team, attended the scene and cordoned off the area. A search for the male suspect was launched, which included the use of a police dog.

At approximately 2 a.m., the man was located down an embankment near a river. He was in medical distress due to what police said appeared to be self-inflicted injuries. Officers provided medical attention until Emergency Health Services could take over but despite their efforts the man died at the scene.
